Hooks

1)Zanza has the look of a Dalmascan, born in the Westersand. She no longer carries the accent in her regular speech, but when she gets upset it creeps back into her speech.

2) Not a native born Sharlayan, your character might remember her as one of the last foreign students accepted into the Studium at the time Sharlayan closed their borders.

3)Raised by Archon Voltemont Zinnaux, she was often left with little to no supervision as he was never on the island Voltemont was often a troublemaker for the Forum. Voltemont is currently missing and has been for three summers.

4)Zanza would've been known for her skills in arcanism, one of the few subjects she would've gotten top marks in.

6) Growing up she was quite antisocial, she could often be found in Labyrinthos spending time with the animals there instead of hanging out with people her age. Specially she might be known as troll girl by other Sharlayans her age, due to her best friend being a troll named Biggums.

7)Zanza is a theological anthropologist, meaning she studies the religions of different tribes, learning the origins and myths of the various native societies of Eorzea.

8)Anyone with aethersight might look at Zanza and notice that her soul is ever so slightly leaning more toward fire than what is normal.

9)Zanza has been an archon for over a summer now, and her thesis has been made available in the Noumenon.

Bio

Name: Zanza Oriath
Pronouns: She/Her
Age: 25
Orientation: Lesbian
Status: Married
Nameday: 3rd Sun 6th Umbral Moon
Guardian: Azeyma The Warden

Zanza is high spirited, having come out of her shell a lot since leaving Sharlayan almost four summers ago. She's hesitant to approach but if she hears something of interest she'll jump right into conversation about the topic.

She currently lives in Shirogane with her wife Merletta, but Zanza can be found all over the Eorzea, frequenting places like Uldah and Gridania.

Zanza can be found currently tinkering with an Allagan node that was given to her.

Thesis

Zanza's thesis involves partially integrating herself into the various cultural groups around Eorzea in order to gain a better understanding of their society and culture. After initially dismissing the idea, staff of the Studium as well as members of the Forum relented and allowed Zanza to conduct her own field work. Zanza also has a fascination with Primals, she views them as a capsule of the tribes beliefs and finds their behavior a great indicator to more subtle things that the tribe members don't say. She has also always had talent with the Arcane and is a fairly skilled Summoner, so her interest in Primals is in some ways selfish as it goes beyond purely anthropological curiosity.

((This section was updated in real time over the course of a year. Zanza has currently finished her thesis! This is basically just her notes she collected while out in the field. It remains on the carrd as an archive!))

  • Sylphs - Research satisfactory sufficient information gained from both tribes folk and their Eikon. Ramuh is surprisingly a great conversationalist.

  • Amal'jaa - Need to return to the Circle of Ash for further questioning, hopefully they forgot about the Ifrit incident. Flames definitely haven't
I was able to return to them without incident and spend time filling in gaps within my notes.

  • Sahagin - While research is insufficient the encounter with Leviathan was enlightening. Returning would prove unnecessary and potentially deadly because of that fish faced bastard Renn (Notes devolve into a surprisingly angry tirade full of words Zanza would never say outloud)

  • Kobolds - Very well mannered folk, at this time I found it unnecessary to actively seek out their Eikon despite desperately wanting to. Titan is well known to be incredibly aggressive and after the encounter with Leviathan further recklessness would prove idiotic. Research is somewhat lacking, may need to return to obtain further information on religious practices.

  • Ixal - This is the first tribe where I lived among them for a substational period of time, while there I aided them with the construction of an airship. At the same time there was also a planned summoning of Garuda that I wished to witness, this however was thwarted by the Adders due to a close friend informing them. Having this incredible opprotunity taken from me was a significant set back but nothing can be done about it. Despite it all living with the Ixal provided me with more information than any other tribe it will be unnecessary to return for any other reason than a friendly visit.

  • Vath - My introduction to the so called "Nonmind" was significantly different than that of other tribes. The Vath were eager for my presence as many of them had only been severed from the "Onemind" for only a few summers, contrary to their counterparts they welcome others into their hive at Loth ast Gnath. The Gnath, or "Onemind" are a hivemind that severs parts that they deem dysfunctional. The goal of ultimate goal of perfection could explain why the manifestation of their faith becomes Ravana, an invincible warrior god.

  • Moogles - The Moogles of Moghome are...interesting creatures. Simultaneously the most difficult and forthcoming group I have worked with during my time in the field. Throughout the month I have spent with them they have promised me many things but delivered nothing. Many people have told me to put my foot down and be forceful, but...it is too much against my nature to be cruel even when someone deserves it. I have been advised to be try and be more assertive, and I'm finding myself struggling. However because of my inaction I have failed to gather sufficient information from the Moogles. My time with them will, unfortunately, continue...

  • Moogles Pt.2 - Though it took some convincing the Moogles they eventually saw reason when I brought along a friend. As much as I hated scaring the little guys it was that or Merletta and Celes hurt them. They eventually told me their origin. Supposedly long ago there was a war that led to the Moogles descending from the heavens on a long rope held out by their leader Good King Moggle Mog the XIIth. This belief is at least also shared by the Twelveswood Moogles which is a rare example of Moogle culture aligning. Moogles are incredibly individualistic and while they have chieftains, there is little to none overarching societal structure. Their free spirit is rather admirable, makes me jealous...I never had that kind of freedom. Moogles are incredibly important to the daily life of the average person due to the Delivery Moogle system. My time with them has been...subpar. But the work has been done and I can finally leave them behind.

  • Vanu Vanu - The Vanu Vanu were a particularly interesting culture to interact with due to the conflict between the two tribes. The Zundu tribe was peaceful and easy going while the Vundu sought conflict. During my time with them I observed several customs one of which was a large banquet to celebrate a yearly ceremony. Here I was able to participate and learn their traditional dance. The Vanu Vanu were quite a relief to spend time with after the Moogles as they were quite forthcoming with information about their rituals and customs.

  • Ananta - The trip to spend time with the Ananta was significant in more than one way. Not only is it the final field outing I'm making for my work on my thesis but it is also the current location of Nyunkrepf's Ark. Seeing such a culturally significant landmark as I'm finishing my fieldwork for my thesis fills me with a sense of...unease. The road is coming to an end but I don't feel ready for what's to come after. I digress this has strayed away from the intended topic. The Ananta are incredibly skilled metal workers and weavers. They use magic to refine the ore into metal that can be used to create jewelry and other goods. The culture was also uniquely matriarchal which reflects in the reported Eikon Lakshmi. It has been quite a while since a summoning of this entity which is...a shame. If there were any primal I wanted to see in person it would have been one that could be described as beautiful. This will be the final entry in this notebook, it's a bittersweet feeling. I'm looking forward to the future and the next adventure.
